Bannatyne Health Club on Quay St isn’t just a normal gym - owner Duncan Bannatyne, famous for his role on Dragon’s Den, has created a work-out haven.
Go for your own personal training work out, a few lengths in the pool or one of the many classes on offer, and then treat yourself to the stunning spa facilities that are on offer (from facial treatments to massages and everything in between.

Rock Over Climbing
Clarence Hat Works, 45 Julia street, M3 1LN – 20 minute walk from The Slate Yard
Are you a bit of a thrill-seeker? Then head on down to Rock Over Climbing, the North West’s premier world class bouldering centre with climbing to suit all abilities. The Slate Yard residents will get special deals, with a free induction to all residents, free tea and coffee on arrival, £5 entry and 50% off a 3-week beginner course so you can build your climbing-confidence!

Rochdale Canal Walk

20 mins walk or 7 minutes cycle from The Slate Yard
For a more leisurely work-out, we recommend a Sunday stroll along the Rochdale Canal walk, where you can take in the beautiful sights of our city. The Rochdale Canal walk connects Castlefield Basin in Manchester to Sowerby Bridge in Yorkshire, and is framed by beautiful meadows and old stone bridges. The path runs parallel with the main bus routes, so if you don’t fancy walking back, simply hop on the bus and be home in no time at all.

The Aquatics Centre

The Manchester Aquatics Centre, purpose built for the Commonwealth Games, is just a 20-minute walk from The Slate Yard and hosts a 50m swimming pool, a diving pool, three gyms and a health suite. If it’s good enough for the professional athletes, it’s good enough for us.

Coming soon, The Slate Yard residents’ gym
Having a free to use on-site gym is what most people dream of – and soon it will be your reality. In 2018, The Slate Yard will be opening its very own gym exclusively for residents, right next door. This stylish exercise space will be free to use for all residents, meaning you don’t have to pay for expensive gym memberships and has all the facilities you could ever need. Additionally, we’ll be welcoming a personal trainer and fitness instructor to run discounted classes for residents, from running clubs to boot camp sessions!
