How to smash your long-term goals

At The Slate Yard, we believe that residents should have complete peace of mind when it comes to renting, that’s why we offer short-term, long-term and flexible contracts. Our residents can stay from six months to five years, so you can confidently plan for the future that suits you.

And planning for the future means considering some of the goals that will help you tick off that bucket list...

Whether you would like to make a career change, start a family, or run a marathon, here are some positive habits to form that will help you to smash your goals, and be the best you can be.

Don’t worry, some of them are dead easy too!

Always make time for breakfast

Fuel yourself for the day ahead with a healthy and hearty breakfast - it is the most important meal of the day, after all. People often cite lack of time as their excuse for skipping breakfast, but by making time for it you can provide your mind and body with the vital energy it needs and give yourself the best possible start to your day. So begin your morning with a comforting bowl of porridge or scrambled eggs on toast and set yourself up for a really productive day.

Get up early

“There just aren’t enough hours in the day” - we’ve all made that excuse before. But what if you simply made more of your time, like waking up an hour earlier to practice some morning meditation, read a book or prep food for the week ahead?

You’ll be amazed by how much you can achieve by getting up just a bit earlier and you’ll feel proud of yourself for doing so. It’s ok to feel a little smug when you’ve already had a shower, tidied the house, finished that assignment and gone to yoga class, all before 9am. Try it, it’s a real game changer.

Make lists

Making lists can help you to visualise your goals and declutter your mind. Try noting down a list of things you want to achieve on a daily or weekly basis; a record of mini-milestones that you want to complete as part of your wider long-term goals. Perhaps that means getting up for a workout at 6am or handing in a piece of work before a deadline.

Tick them off as you go along and before you know it, you’ll be well on your way to success. It’s also a great way to keep track of your efforts and remind yourself of the progress you’re making.

Motivate yourself with rewards

If you need a bit more motivation to complete tasks, try giving yourself incentives. Indulge in your favourite sweet treat or pamper yourself with a pedicure, just make sure to reward yourself for your hard work. Not only will it encourage positive and productive working habits, but it will keep you feeling motivated and enthusiastic as you progress towards your long-term goals. Plus, it’s a great excuse for a little indulgence...

Whatever it is you want to achieve, ensuring that your lifestyle and living space is built around you puts you one step closer to getting there. Things like peace of mind around rental contracts or having access to a 24-hour onsite concierge to help you with the little things, like collecting that Amazon delivery or showing you how to work the washer-dryer.

It all makes hitting those goals a little easier.
